Run For a Cause: How the HERizon 5K Supports the WiMEF

The inaugural HERizon 5K taking place on Sunday, October 9, at 2:00 p.m. (ET) in Atlanta, GA is more than just another race. It is an opportunity to come together as a community to encourage one another and help raise funds in support of the Women in Manufacturing Education Foundation (WiMEF), showing that success is within reach

What does success look like? For many, success is reaching the finish line and fulfilling a personal achievement. Afterall, a 5K is 3.1 miles and should be celebrated when completed! Awards will be given to the top 10 finishers along with the top individual and team fundraisers.

Success for the HERizon 5K is reaching the fundraising goal of $30,000 in support of the WiMEF which has impacted thousands of women with programs such as its monthly Virtual Learning Series, Management Development Program, the Leadership Institute for Women in STEM and Manufacturing and Empowering Women in Production.  Every $45 registration received is a small step towards achieving this objective. This is a race, however, so how can we reach the finish line faster? Fundraising!

Racers are able to sign up as individual fundraisers during race registration. Once registered, individuals can create a unique URL to share with friends, family and network contacts to promote their participation and donation goals. The HERizon 5K also allows individuals to create or join a team to work collaboratively towards reaching the fundraising goal more quickly.

Non-runners and virtual attendees can also reach success by becoming a fundraiser or making a donation directly on the HERizon 5K website.  There is no need to register for those who wish to participate as a fundraiser or join an existing team’s fundraising efforts.

Whether it’s through a chapter challenge, corporate wellness activity or an individual achievement, the HERizon 5K’s success is a community effort.  Join today and help the WiMEF cross the finish line with $30,000 to continue offering affordable educational and leadership programs for women in all career levels within the manufacturing industry.
