Please share your position, company name and chapter affiliation.

My name is Nadiya LaBelle, and I am the Service and Parts Coordinator at Koma Precision. I also serve as the Membership Chair for the Women In Manufacturing (WIM) Connecticut Chapter.

How long has the chapter been around?

WIM Connecticut was founded in 2015. One of our earliest milestones was a tour of the TRUMPF facility in Farmington, CTThis event was especially memorable, as it featured a presentation from WIM founder Allison Roberts Grealis, whose message helped set the tone for the strong and supportive community we continue to build today.

What areas or regions does the chapter host events in?

We host events across the entire state. Our programming includes factory tours, social gatherings, holiday celebrations, legislative updates, and our signature conference, ConnvergeWe’ve also expanded our reach by partnering with neighboring chapters, including a recent joint tour with the WIM Massachusetts Chapter at the Stanley Black & Decker facility in Western Massachusetts.

How has being part of WIM Chapters impacted your career or personal growth?

Being part of WIM Connecticut — and especially serving on the leadership board — has had a profound impact on both my personal and professional growth.

On a personal level, it has given me a strong sense of community and belonging. The environment we cultivate is one of encouragement and support, where members share experiences, offer guidance, and celebrate one another’s achievements. What began as a professional network has grown into a circle of trusted peers, mentors, and friends.

Professionally, WIM has broadened my industry knowledge and strengthened my leadership skills through events, workshops, and ongoing collaboration. Each leadership board member organizes at least one event per year, and connecting with members and planning some of these events is something I genuinely enjoy.

What has been your favorite WIM Chapter event?

One of my favorite experiences was our 2024 Christmas event, Holiday Happiness. It was more than a networking opportunity — it was a joyful celebration of the women in our manufacturing community, filled with meaningful conversations, fun activities, and plenty of laughter.

Another favorite is our annual conference, Connverge. Last year’s event, held under the theme “United We Win,” featured Sam Rapoport — the creator of the NFL Women’s Forum — as the keynote speaker and brought together an incredible group of women from across the industry.

What is one word you would use to describe WIM?

Inspiring. Being surrounded by people who share your story — and who uplift and support one another both personally and professionally — creates a powerful sense of empowerment and makes your goals feel more attainable. Seeing others succeed reminds you that you can succeed, too.
