Cognitive Diversity - Dealing with Different Thinking Styles
Presented by Lei Comerford

If there was ever a time period where the world is dealing with the unexpected, this is it. Being able to pivot between your natural thinking style and that of someone you are working with is an incredibly critical skill set. In this virtual learning event, participants will explore their own natural thinking style and learn tips on how to spot clues in others to be more effective in their interactions and communications. Your take-aways can be immediately applied in both your personal and professional life.

Report from The Manufacturing Institute | October 2021

Diversity + Inclusion Benchmarking in Manufacturing

Manufacturers across
the country were surveyed to create a baseline for current practices and attitudes around D&I topics, such as hiring, diversity-related reporting and employee resources. Respondents include more than 300 manufacturers from more than 15 industry sectors. Almost 40% of respondents come from small manufacturers (under 500 employees), 24% from medium-sized manufacturers and 36% from large manufacturers (more than 25,000 employees). The majority of respondents were in executive leadership positions, followed by persons with a human resources and/or D&I role.

In response to changing needs of WiM members and evolving best practices for professional associations, the Women in Manufacturing Association (WiM) formed a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Task Force in the fall of 2020. The DE&I Task Force is comprised of WiM Association board members, WiM Education Foundation (WiMEF) board members, and representatives from WiM corporate member companies and organizations.

The DE&I Task Force is focused on ensuring that WiM and the WiMEF actively develop programming that provides corporate members with tools for creating and advancing informed DE&I initiatives within their organizations. Additionally, the task force is committed to ensuring that WiM provides individual members with resources geared toward overcoming and impacting DE&I-related challenges in their careers.
