Keynote Speaker: Michael Martens, TransAmerica

Michael Marten's grew up in a family business in Cleveland, Ohio. His family owned 3 funeral homes in the Cleveland area. Having worked in the family business for several years, he was able to appreciate the struggles that family business owners experience.

He joined the Stouffer Hotel Corporation in 1986, managing food operations in their 3 Star hotel in Downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Over the next 10 years in the Hospitality Industry, he held several positions, from Food & Beverage Director to Hotel General Manager.

He was recruited by Sysco Corporation in 1996. For the next 9 years, he worked as a consultant and marketing manager, working with local restaurants to grow and develop their business. In that time, he worked with individual and multi-unit restaurants over a 3-county area. During that time, he was given the prestigious Torchbearers Award, as one of the Top Performing Marketing Associates in North America.

The skills & experience that he gained in his family business, and in hotel operations, and sales gives him a very diverse back-round. He wanted to help individual and families to plan for their financial future. Transamerica offered him a great opportunity to use the skills and knowledge that he acquired, to help people. He did not want business owners to make the same mistakes that his family made. Transamerica has given Michael the tools and resources to help develop an Exit Strategy for business owners. "Succession Planning" is how he works with family business owners to plan for today and their future.

We hope to see you there!
