Jeanine McMillen, Ed.D., has served as Assistant Dean for Business, Technology, and Workforce Education at Waubonsee Community College in IL since early 2022. Prior to that role, she was employed at the college as a Professional Writing Tutor and Academic Coach in Academic Support Services. In addition to supporting students’ academic development with one-on-one tutoring and coaching sessions, Dr. McMillen worked with colleagues to design and facilitate academic webinar programming and served on the division’s data management team. During this time, she also served as a Teaching Graduate Assistant in the Department of Leadership, Education Psychology and Foundations at Northern Illinois University (NIU), while co-authoring a mixed methods research study of college students’ mental well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic that was published in the Journal of American College Health. Prior to her roles at Waubonsee and NIU, Dr. McMillen was employed at Aurora University, where she taught communication and interdisciplinary courses in the School of Business and Public Policy and General Education Department. Here she gained professional experience as a project manager at a global market research firm. McMillen also volunteers as a founding member of the City of Geneva's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force, formed in 2021 based on the city's strategic plan.
Dr. McMillen holds a Doctorate in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Northern Illinois University, a Master of Arts degree in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Organizational Communication from Marquette University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Saint Louis University, where she also studied Creative and Professional Writing and Studio Art.
