Navigating Difficult Conversations Through Connection, Communication, and Consistency
• Description of speaking topic:
Giving feedback is one of the most important—and most avoided—responsibilities of leadership. When done well, feedback builds trust, strengthens engagement, and fuels growth. When avoided or mishandled, it creates confusion, frustration, and disengagement.
In this workshop, leaders will explore why feedback truly matters, the most common mistakes that undermine its impact, and the real reasons leaders hesitate to have difficult conversations. Participants will learn why fruitful feedback conversations begin long before the actual conversation takes place—and how daily connection, communication, and consistency create a foundation of trust and receptivity. Through practical, proven steps, leaders will gain tools to prepare for meaningful feedback conversations with confidence, clarity, and care—so feedback becomes a catalyst for trust, engagement, and performance.
• What they’ll experience:
In addition to the above, we’ll have an interactive activity to promote reflection of their own experiences with feedback and what about it makes these conversations difficult. We’ll close the session by asking each participant to identify one insight they can apply immediately.
• Takeaway:
Participants will receive a one-page guideline on how to prepare well for giving feedback.
